William Wright was born in Lansing, Michigan, but grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida. He met his wife Debbie in study hall at Northeast High School. They have been happily married for thirty years and have four married children, Jarrod, Amy, Sarah, and Andrea. They have blessed him with seven grandchildren, or as he likes to say "seven excuses for his wife to leave him."

Beginning at his father's bench at age fifteen, Bill has been working in the field of prosthetics. He received his certification in 1971 from Delgado in New Orleans. After he officially retired two years ago Bill started a new business as a home inspector. This new endeavor allows him to be his own boss, helps him keep in touch with the happenings in Volusia County and gets him out of Debbie's hair a couple of days a week.

Since 2002 Bill has been a Rotarian. Not just a member, but an active member. His initiation began with the DeLand Luncheon Rotary where he was one of four Rotarians that started the Dictionary Project and Bowling for Literacy. Bill also started the DeLand High School Interact Club and hosted three Rotary Youth Exchange students!

Bill has since served in six other Rotary Clubs. He also started the Dictionary Project in the Rotary Club of Hoover, Alabama, and in the Rotary Club of Winter Park, Florida. While a member of Winter Park Rotary, Bill started  a relationship with Kilarney Elementary School and began the Weekend Backpack Program that supplied food for children that might not get a weekend meal. He carried that program to the Rotary Club of Cape Henry in Virginia Beach, Virginia. From the Rotary Club of Richland, Pennsylvania Bill brought us Adopt-a-Road.

In all Bill has served in eight Rotary Clubs. He has been the recipient of two Paul Harris Fellow Awards and three Rotarian of the Year Awards. Bill looks forward to serving the Rotary Club of DeBary-Deltona-Orange City as President, improving our communities, and growing with the Club.
