Stories
We remember those who sacrificed themselves for our country.

Erika Benfield says:
"I miss my grandfather so much. Happy Memorial Day to all and remember our freedom is also due to the ultimate sacrifice.  ðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸ My grandfather was a prisoner in Korea held captive during the war released in 1956.  Many of his comrades did not make it home; he had the bullet in his leg.  Through Honor Flight Central Florida Hub as a guardian, I witnessed Central Florida veterans look for their fallen comrades names in a book or memorial wall. Remember the fallen and honor all veterans everyday!"

Our Club President-Elect (2019-20120) Erika attended the District Training Assembly
Erika Benfield says on her Facebook page that her "aha" moment was when a young lady spoke about her experience with Rotary. This young lady was sponsored to attend RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) in 1999 by our club. She is a Rotarian and Executive Director of RYLA today! Debra and Joe were also there.

Do you know what RYLA is?

Our Club is paying for four students and Florida Hospital is funding two more students. - Thank You Florida Hospital-Fish Memorial.
This is a great opportunity for a student to be selected to attend RYLA from June 24 - July at Stetson University. The students attend University High School, Deltona High School, Trinity Christian Academy, and Pine Ridge High School. Florida Hospital funded two more students who attend the Health Academy at Pine Ridge High School.

The Songs We Sometimes Sing At our Meetings Depending On Our Mood And The Weather

A Song For Our Guests and Visiting Rotarians (Words by John Carpenter)

Whenever you travel the highways,

From New York to Miami Shores,

A Rotary welcome awaits you,

From DeBary-Deltona-Orange City and more.

So come back to see us,

You're always welcome each time you do.

So come back to see us,

We're always glad to greet you,

DeBary-Deltona-Orange City and you!

"My Country, 'Tis of Thee" (America)

My country, 'tis of thee,

Sweet land of liberty,

Of thee I sing;

Land where my fathers died,

Land of the pilgrims' pride,

From every mountainside

Let freedom ring!

"God Bless America"  (by Irving Berlin)

God bless America,

Land that I love

Stand beside her, and guide her

Through the night with a light from above

From the mountains, to the prairies,

To the oceans, white with foam

God bless America, My home sweet home

God bless America, My home sweet home.

"The Star-Spangled Banner" (by Francis Scott Key)

O say can you see by the dawn's early light,

What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming,

Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,

O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming.

And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there,

O say does that Star Spangled Banner yet wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
