Happy Rotary Morning To You!
Rob Deininger, Rotary 5K Runner and C.E.O.  of Florida Hospital Fish Memorial was our Guest Speaker
Below: Immediate Past Club President Joe Alemany, Rob Deininger, and Club President Bill Wright.
Wayne Zimmerman, Our Club President for the Rotary Year 2013-2014
I just received word that former member and past president Wayne Zimmerman passed last week. Services were Friday. I cannot find anything in the paper or any note on his FB page, only that Diane Dickenson told me he died of a heart attack.  Wayne was instrumental in merging the Four Townes Rotary Club with the DeBary-Deltona Club. His sense of humor, purpose and calmness in crises helped to make the merger successful and his year as our President was a healing one. Wayne loved his beer and NASCAR! He will be missed.

Come hear Eli on September 11th.
Birding:  And everything else.
By Eli Schaperow

Eli Schaperow has loved and enjoyed what Mother Nature has put in front of him since he was a little boy.  About twelve years ago, he took a 4 session course on identifying birds and was inspired to actively seek out and learn about new bird species.

Eli will demonstrate and explain the basics for observing and identifying birds, as well as other members of the natural world.   Eli will show some of the interesting birds and extraordinary scenery he's found across America.

The Songs We Sometimes Sing At our Meetings Depending On Our Mood And The Weather

A Song For Our Guests and Visiting Rotarians (Words by John Carpenter)

Whenever you travel the highways,

From New York to Miami Shores,

A Rotary welcome awaits you,

From DeBary-Deltona-Orange City and more.

So come back to see us,

You're always welcome each time you do.

So come back to see us,

We're always glad to greet you,

DeBary-Deltona-Orange City and you!

"My Country, 'Tis of Thee" (America)

My country, 'tis of thee,

Sweet land of liberty,

Of thee I sing;

Land where my fathers died,

Land of the pilgrims' pride,

From every mountainside

Let freedom ring!

"God Bless America"  (by Irving Berlin)

God bless America,

Land that I love

Stand beside her, and guide her

Through the night with a light from above

From the mountains, to the prairies,

To the oceans, white with foam

God bless America, My home sweet home

God bless America, My home sweet home.

"The Star-Spangled Banner" (by Francis Scott Key)

O say can you see by the dawn's early light,

What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming,

Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,

O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming.

And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there,

O say does that Star Spangled Banner yet wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Lunch with Barry on February 15, 2019
YOUR Rotary Foundation

District 6970 is #1 in the WORLD for Polio Giving of DDF (District Designated Funds)

FEBRUARY 15, 2019 - Lunch with RI President Barry Rassin
Rotary International President Barry is coming to D6970 to celebrate your generosity.

Paul Harris Fellow Challenge - Day of 1,000 Paul Harris Fellows.  To show our appreciation to President Barry and all the good that The Rotary Foundation does in the world, your District Foundation Team is challenging each of you to increase your Foundation giving so we can do even MORE GOOD IN THE WORLD!

If you are not already a Paul Harris Fellow, talk to your Club Foundation Chair, President or Assistant Governor about how to become one.  If you are already a PHF, let's move up to that next level of giving, and/or become a member of the Bequest Society.  Let's get creative and work together to make this happen!

How awesome would it be to recognize 1,000 Rotarians form around our great District during President Barry's visit in February?  We CAN do it!

Let's BE THE INSPIRATION!

Please share your club's success story including strategy and results to:Inspire.Rotary6970@gmail.com by Aug 20th
